The Story Behind Every Rug We Touch
Every rug has a story before it ever makes its way to us. Some rugs have come from family homes with a few decades of memories tied to them. Others have been carefully selected to fill in the last remaining piece of a room that was designed by an individual that worked hard to create such a design. We started Kashmir Rug Care out of the desire to take care of the stories that rugs share with those that own them.
Where It All Began
It all began with frustration. In Escondido, CA, there were numerous rug owners who turned to rug cleaning companies to restore their rugs to their original state. However, many rugs were coming out faded and damaged from the efforts of carpet cleaning companies who applied methods to carpets and rugs rather than the care that delicate rugs require to maintain their beauty and intricate design.
We built the company with a desire to fix that problem. Our name is inspired by the region of Kashmir, which is world renowned for its rugs. Whether the rug is centuries old or from a local furniture store, we will treat it the same.
Our Approach to Rug Care
Kashmir Rug Care believe in the importance of restoration of rugs rather than just routinely having them cleaned. Each rug will contain different fibers, dyes, weave, and construction methods which are all important in determining the proper way to clean each rug.
Rather than relying on the machines to perform the rug, the team takes the time to learn about fiber identification, dye, and hand washing techniques. If a rug is mistreated once, it can’t be restored. It is always better to prevent damage than to attempt to restore it later on. This mentality is applied to every aspect of the rug washing and drying processes.

Due to the specifics of rug fibers as opposed to carpet fibers, rug cleaning requires a different mindset. Each rug is evaluated individually prior to being cleaned to determine the type of fiber, the colorfastness of the rug, the wear and damage that it might have suffered in the past. Based on these analyses, the rug is cleaned in a way that ensures its preservation.
